    KOGA SD1

    Weight: 4.1 oz
    Overall Length: 7 1/2"
    Thickness: 1 1/5"

Bob Koga began his martial arts career at an early age beginning with Judo at 12 and moving on to wrestling in high school. After graduation Bob joined the Air Force and, while stationed in Japan, he resumed his Judo training as well as studying Jiu Jitsu, Jo-do and Aikido. After finishing his stint in the Air Force, Bob moved to Los Angeles where he joined the LAPD and served with great distinction for 25 years. During his tenure with the LAPD, Bob became widely recognized as an outspoken proponent of the straight baton as opposed to the PR24® or side handle baton (currently popular in departments across the land).

Made of virtually unbreakable plastic, the SD can increase the ability of the average person to defend himself several times over. With proper training, it can function as a fantastic aid in leverage when obtaining joint locks or submission holds. But where it really shines is as an intermediate impact tool. You see, police and civilians alike face a perplexing dilemma when contemplating employing fist or baton blows. Blows struck with the fist may be too weak, or worse, result in a broken hand, while blows struck with a baton may be too powerful resulting in grave injury or even death. The SD however, solves this problem, neatly bridging the gap by concentrating and magnifying the effect of hand blows while minimizing the likelihood of permanent injury or death. If you're looking to expand your continuum of force options in a self-defense situation, we heartily suggest you buy a Koga SD.

Although the creation of the SD1 is credited to the late Robert Koga, this baton is the modern version of Frank Matsuyama's original Yawara stick, and nearly identical. The Koga SD1 is perhaps best utilized by law-enforcement officers, but it can be used by anyone very instinctively in a self-defense situation. Students of karate will find that it enhances the effectiveness of their hand strikes. Students of judo and jujitsu will use it to help off-balance their assailants, and also use it for joint locks. I suggest you watch Robert Koga's videos on YouTube. This is a very versatile weapon for both the martial artist and the average person on the street.

This baton will fit neatly in the single front pocket of your hooded sweatshirt. I keep one in the consoles of my vehicles. Law-enforcement officers will find that the Nite Ize flashlight holster will hold it perfectly. I highly recommend both the Koga SD1 and it's smaller version, the Koga SD2.

A long time CS fanatic, I own this Koga and its smaller version. You have to hold it in your hands to believe it. Just getting lightly thumped (playfully mind you) in the face with either will give you just a small glimpse of the serious damage they can do to an eye socket, temple or an aggressors ribs. Easily concealable, super lightweight and crazy durable. Get one for your girlfriend or wife or you are crazy. Dale, ClevHts Oh
