For the money, the Bushman® knives might be the strongest survival/outdoor knives in the world! Unlike most hollow handled survival knives, there is no joint or seam between the blades and handles that requires a mechanical fastener. Instead, the Bushman's® blades and integral handles are each expertly cold forged out of a single piece of 2.5mm thick SK-5 high carbon steel. The resulting knives are expertly heat-treated and tempered to RC54 and, when subjected to our tests, have withstood over two tons of pressure on their blade/handle transition!

Every Bushman® blade has been carefully ground to an extra thin edge, and then honed and buffed by hand until razor sharp. The Bushman® knives are versatile too! Their hollow handles will accept survival supplies or a variety of handle extensions which can maximize reach, leverage or ease of throwing. They are available in two blade styles (standard and our new Bowie point). Both feature continuously curved blades that are ideal for skinning, and will pierce, cut, slash, slice and shear like you won't believe.

They both come complete with our new heavy duty Cor-Ex Survival sheath which features a utilitarian pocket on the front for storing small items.

I love my Bowie Bushman. It's a solid, strong knife that I know I can rely on.

First I'm going to talk about what I don't like. The handle is very slick and there is no guard. If you're not wearing decent gloves, this is a recipe for disaster. Because it's an all-steel handle, it will transfer temperature to your hands. Again, wear gloves with this knife. Luckily, you can wrap the handle with paracord and create your own guard out of it, too. Won't fit in the sheath as well though (yes, I've tried it).
About that sheath...It's cordura nylon. For a high carbon steel knife. Better than leather, but not as good as secure-ex would have been. If you can give the GI Tanto and Shanghai Shadow secure-ex sheaths at this price level, why not this knife? Cordura can retain moisture, which can cause rust. Cold Steel even tells you not to leave the knife in the sheath for long term storage because of this.

Now I'm going to talk about what I like. Which is a lot. First of all, great job on creating the strongest hollow handled survival knife in the world at any price! Second of all, this knife feels lighter in hand than its weight lists it as. I like that a lot. Feels like it would make a great fighting knife too, again as long as you have a good pair of gloves on. Fairly light and fast in hand for what it is.
Bravo to Cold Steel for not loading their knives full of gimmicky, meaningless garbage like sawback blade spines, tiger stripes, fake acid etched hamon, swedges and recurves where they don't belong, and the like. Cold Steel knows how to make a knife look good without making it look like the drawing of a bored 12-year-old. This is a knife that looks and feels primal. Like most if not all of CS' knives, this is all about function.
The edge I received on mine wasn't super sharp out of the box, but I know Cold Steel and I know I could sharpen this baby up on a 20-25° angle just fine. Haven't done much with it yet just because I have so many other knives, and I want to use them all.

Great job on the Bowie Bushman! Texture the handle a little, give it a secure-ex sheath instead, and it'll be perfect!

I have had my Bowie Bushman knife for several months now and I absolutely love it. It was extremely sharp out of the box and after using it to carve wood and cut wood into kindling it is still very sharp. The sheath leaves a little to be desired but is functional and caries a magnesium fire-starting tool with a striker bar that works well with this knife. I would recommend this knife to anyone who is looking for a useful and inexpensive survival knife. With the ability to be attached to a handle it would make an incredible spear.
