FAKE VS REAL RECON I

The most telling thing here is that the fake knife has a blade with a bead blast finish. Since thier introduction in 2001, the Recon 1’s have always been sold with a black blade. We have never made a version with a bead blast finish. The person who made this knife figured that most people would not know that fact and buy this piece of junk thinking it was authentic.

Generally, the look of this fake knife resembles an genuine Recon 1 pretty closely. There is a subtle difference in the handles because the fake was cast from a real Recon 1 and is one generation away from the original, but nevertheless it is visually close to an actual Recon 1. If you had this fake knife in your hand you would notice that the blade wobbles, and that it does not open smoothly.

This knife was returned to Cold Steel because the thumb disc on the top of the blade broke off. It was regrettable that we had to tell the owner that this was a knock off and was therefore not covered by our warranty.
