As for this specific model, it is everything you could want from a low-visibility undetectable defense weapon. As for this category of knives (non-metallic) here's what you need to know: while the knife by itself is undetectable by metal detectors, the metal ring attached to it is a necessity for maintaining legality for manufacturing, distributing, and carrying purposes. Knives that are completely undetectable by metal detectors are illegal, and the metal ring that comes attached to these knives is Cold Steel's way of circumnavigating this law. The ring makes it so this knife is detectable, so therefore Cold Steel is legally able to sell these knives. Once you buy this knife, you can easily remove the ring to make it undetectable. However, by doing so you are making it an illegal weapon. If caught, you can be charged with possession of a prohibited deadly weapon. If you really want to maintain legality, keep the ring attached to the knife. This is a decision entirely up to you, and if you are looking to get this knife you probably intend to remove the ring. Just be aware of what that does for its legality, and be cautious when carrying it. The reason I'm informing all y'all is that I've read a bunch of reviews from people who are upset with Cold Steel for including the ring. Now you guys know why they have to do that, and you guys should be thankful to them for finding a way of giving you guys a weapon like this.
